UK Environmental Permitting Regulations (radioactive material and waste)
Ionactive summary guidance on UK Environmental Permitting Regulations. Since the UK is formed into devolved administrations, this guidance takes a different approach to our IRR17 guide (where we examine compliance with each regulation in turn). This guide written by Mark Ramsay, Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA), takes a more practical approach. There is less emphasis on individual regulation and more emphasise on practical compliance with permits / registrations / authorisations in the workplace. This may be useful to other RWAs, Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS), environment managers, Radiation Protection Officers and other users of radioactive materials and generators of radioactive waste.
This resource is a summary of the Ionactive 'Radioactive Substances and Waste - Environmental Compliance Course' which is available for purchase on our online training platform (completion of which will lead to a certificate being awarded).

Atoms are very special: they like certain particular partners, certain particular directions, and so on. It is the job of physics to analyze why each one wants what it wants.
