James L Acord

Mark Ramsay had the pleasure of meeting James L Acord (Jim) on a number of occasions whilst working as RPA for Imperial College London. He died in 2011. In many minds he was an inspiration, but to others he might be seen as an irresponsible maverick. He merged art and science of the nuclear age in a way that was fascinating and thought provoking. His goal was the transmutation of radioactive technetium to Ruthenium, the product of which he wished to use in art.
