This link takes you to an index page of PDF documents, containing original papers from the Society on radiochemical aspects of many elements. The quality of reproduction is variable but it's still a valuable resource of data - if not the latest information available.

The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation's Nuclear Files project is a web site devoted to the history of the Nuclear Age. By providing background information, analysis and access to primary documents, this site is an educational resource exploring the political, legal and ethical challenges stemming from the continued existence of nuclear weapons. This is an extremely interesting site when you have a few moments to surf. Of particular note is the many letters between each of the main players in the Manhattan Project (e.g. between Robert Oppenheimer and General Leslie Groves).

Nick's World Collection of Radiation Links is a catalogue of Internet links related to radiation from many countries, classified by region. It uses a picture of the world map; you simply click on the region of interest and the links will open up from there. Whilst this might not truly be up to date (it states November 2018 but many links are aged 2008 or before), we think it demonstrates that a curated set of links still has a place in Google World.

The NDT Resource Centre is a very comprehensive web site on matters related to Non Destructive Testing (NDT). The link takes you to their X-ray / Gamma pages which include a well presented set of learning resources. They have a nice range of animations and useful review sections at the end of each article - would also be great for school / college project material.

To quote a passage from the site: 'As I pass through the check point, I feel that I have entered an unreal world. In the dead zone, the silence of the villages, roads, and woods seem to tell something at me....something that I strain to hear....something that attracts and repels me both at the same time. It is divinely eerie - like stepping into that Salvador Dali painting with the dripping clocks.' This is quite old now (from 2004), since then Chernobyl has opened up quite a lot allowing planned visits. However, it is of its time, and an important personal account of the visit.

Mark Ramsay had the pleasure of meeting James L Acord (Jim) on a number of occasions whilst working as RPA for Imperial College London. He died in 2011. In many minds he was an inspiration, but to others he might be seen as an irresponsible maverick. He merged art and science of the nuclear age in a way that was fascinating and thought provoking. His goal was the transmutation of radioactive technetium to Ruthenium, the product of which he wished to use in art.
